As a Class 2 Driver, you will be an essential part of our operation, responsible for the safe and timely delivery of building materials to our valued customers. You’ll be the face of our company on the road, ensuring that each delivery is handled with care and professionalism. Role Responsibilities.

  • Safely operate a Class 2 vehicle to deliver building materials, such as timber, bricks, cement, and other construction supplies, to customer sites across the region
  • Ensure all deliveries are made on time, following the scheduled routes and adhering to delivery instructions
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure the truck is roadworthy and complies with safety regulations
  • Report any maintenance issues or defects to the relevant department to ensure timely repairs and avoid disruptions in service
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of materials, ensuring goods are properly secured and handled with care to prevent damage
  • Complete all necessary delivery paperwork, including delivery notes and logbooks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures
  • Maintain effective communication with the transport and logistics teams to provide updates on deliveries and report any issues or delays
  • Coordinate with customers to ensure they are informed of delivery times and any changes to the schedule

The Ideal Candidate.

  • Previous experience as a Class 2 Driver, preferably within the building materials or construction sector. Familiarity with the safe handling and transportation of construction supplies
  • A track record of punctuality and reliability, ensuring that deliveries are made on time and to the highest standards.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with customers on-site.
  • A keen awareness of health and safety regulations, ensuring that all operations, both on the road and in the yard, are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies.
  • Willingness to assist with yard duties and support colleagues when needed, contributing to the smooth running of the builders’ merchant.
  • The ability to handle unexpected situations on the road, such as delays or changes in delivery instructions, with a calm and professional attitude.
  • Comfortable with manual handling of building materials during loading and unloading.
  • Holds a valid Class 2 (Category C) driving license with a clean driving record, and is up-to-date with CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
