We sat down with Ian, our talented Senior Marketing Executive, to explore the creative engine behind our brand — and discover how he brings Beesley & Fildes to life across digital platforms.
Q: Tell us about your career.
A: I joined the business back in 2014, bringing with me a background in Graphic Design and a passion for creative storytelling.
After graduating from Salford University with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design, I started out designing and illustrating teaching resources for Key Stage 1 and 2 children. I also freelanced on the side, creating designs for both print and web — which gave me a great foundation in balancing creativity with practical outcomes.
Since joining Beesley & Fildes, I’ve gained a whole new appreciation for the building industry. It’s fast-paced, constantly evolving, and full of opportunities to flex my creative muscles in ways I never expected.
Q: What does your role entail, and what does a general day look like?
A: No two days are ever the same and that’s exactly what makes the role so exciting! With a wide range of projects and sectors across the business, my day might involve anything from crafting social media content and organising customer events like race days, to developing campaigns that spotlight our latest offers.
One moment I’ll be designing point-of-sale materials or sourcing branded merchandise, the next I’m building email campaigns or creating signage for our branches. Some days I’m out on location at our Garden Centre for a photoshoot – there’s always something new to dive into.
The variety keeps things fresh, and I’m constantly picking up new skills along the way. Naturally, every day starts with a strong cup of coffee to kick things off!
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: What I enjoy most about my role is the variety – every day brings something different, and there’s always a chance to get creative. That’s the part I really thrive on.
The people I work with make a huge difference too. A positive team culture and strong working relationships are so important, and I feel genuinely lucky to be part of such a friendly and supportive environment here at Beesley & Fildes.
Q: And finally – what’s something we might not know about you?
A: I was born in Hannover, Germany, and spent part of my childhood in Fallingbostel, in the Landkreis district. Ever since, I’ve had a soft spot for Germany — especially when the World Cup rolls around!
